This tutorial covers:

-efficient sketching
-how to get smooth lines
-inking freehand
-inking with the pen tool
-neat coloring
-cell shading
-the basics of gradient shading

As the title states, it is a massively huge frickin' thing. Sorry, my dial-up friends. I saved it as a jpeg so it would load faster.

This covers most of my knowledge on how to create an image using photoshop. Hopefully it will be of some assisstance. I'm pretty sure I covered anything, but f you have any questions, please feel free to ask me!

*Ah yes, I forgot to mention a few things in this tut that are pretty important:

-if you're inking with the pen tool, after you've stroked your paths, right click and select 'delete path"
-After you've expanded your magic wand selection for coloring, delete the extra color before you deselect*

hey, this was a great tutorial. :) thanks so much for posting it. It answers a lot of questions I had about my programs (aside from pen and brush, I didn't know what the hell everything else was for, and gradient and opacity was .. well... not fun) looks great! (and I love the softer shading she has)
Oh wow, this is REALLY helpful..
I'm surprised that a tutorial could BE this helpful!

So for colouring line art you just lock the line layer and start colouring the lines normally? It doesn't interfere with the base/marking layers?

Is the magic wand like colouring the areas you want kept clean?

Sorry about all the questions, I just want to make sure I understand. :)

I've been wanting to know this stuff!

Nope. Locking the layer means it's impossible for you to draw outside of what you've already colored. The magic wand selects pizels of similer color, so it's useful for accurately selecting large areas, which helps with the coloring
